Default Scrub question about pick pocketing.

Hello, i'm quit new to adom, and right now play as thief, few things confusing me -

    1) Is pick pocketing worth it ? Did any one get anything from it, artifacts in v1.2
    2) Why dose pick pocket on non hostile monsters (when you invisible / stealth) - chaotic act ?
    3) What kind of changes were implemented to it in v1.2 ?

I pick pocket every humanoid monster from I1 - atm in I22, max what i got were 4 attributes potions, two cure corruption. Some junk. And yet anything interest. This making me think that pp was nerfed horrible, and now quit useless, when it's should be main thing for thief.

Second thing, why it's chaotic ? I can stab anything in neck, hostile - non hostile, but if i greasy up me fingers and check what mob has - that's bad, makes 0 logic.

Me lvl 24 DE thief ded - dragons do not have pockets. I did get one interest thing - Preserver, but i didn't steal it, it's simple dropped from chaos monk in DH1, i killed him after pick pocketing. :/

i dont think pickpocketing is useless...many people including myself regard treasure hunter as the most overpowered talent in the game and PP is TH on steroids...so if you can get over the fact that you need to consciously apply the skill and that it hurts your alignment, it is indeed worth it. i dont know the stats but im willing to bet that at high lvls treasure generated with it > normal treasure generation. why wud dragons have pockets?

Well, i was not sure, and thought cheeky dragon had pockets (*゜ω゜*)
TH i have too, and to be honest - i can't call it OP, just because of amount of junk what being generated. But, getting two potions of attribute in r2, is a little bit.....yeah. I started new thief. I want test class power what they get on lvl 32, plus TH in let's say coc 30+ will be interest to see. Non of my characters who had TH didn't make it to COC after casino lvl.

    TH doesn't affect pickpocket.

Assuming it hasn't been nerfed too badly, the level 32 power for thieves is kind of weird, but awesome. It really skews the probability distribution for finding stuff toward rare items. There's a YAVP here from 1.1.1 where the guy pickpocketed 20 RoDS, 10 WoW, 15 AoLS, 5 artifacts, and not a single potion of water. Don't know how many monsters he needed to get that... it was off a gremlin bomb, so probably in the tens of thousands, I'd assume.

Not something you can do anymore, sadly.

Yes, i know TH doesn't have to do anything with PP, but i want make own tests. Basically i'm focusing on BDC with PP, and inf~50 for TH, to make test there. Run maybe 1-2k monsters. From what i get on thief inf 31 was - 7 PoA, two writing sets (2 and 5 charges), about 30-35 water, and some small things like map scrolls, keys, random potions. It's over all loot from inf1 -> 31, 31->1.
On the same thief, he have TH, lvl 25 inf, i enter it and run through ~20 times, i get 5 spell books, two PoA. But i'm not sure...i get stupid amount of tension rooms with orks, i'm not sure but, it's may be influence of TH. Since there is no better food then orks.

Since i'm scrub - i can't understand item DL spread :/ I think Inf lvl 50 should be fine for TH. And later i will make different character without TH and do the same. Testings >:3

    level 18 pilfer shops ability
    This is very annoying.

Oh god yes, the most useless and THE MOST annoying thing.

And to be honest, chaotic influence should be MUCH MUCH bigger, i have ankh on me, and only get from N+ -> NC, with all this PP, every single humanoid monster was pickpocketed. and dragons too

I:50 is not enough to get all items, but it will get most. In the Infinite Dungeon, items drop at DL/3. So the drops in I:50 would be DL16. Apparently there are items with DL as high as 30 (whip of the snake), so you're cutting off the top end.

Picking a potion of cure corruption would be worth the skill to me. I have never picked anything that useful but to be honest I don't use the skill very often.

TH is insane. Please don't encourage anyone to take that away from me. Play 20 games with and without it and compare the items you die with. TH makes a world of difference in this game.
