YEIY!!! After 8 years this is my first YAVP!!
I am sure that for most of the expert players in this forum my game would have been on the boring side, but for me it was great. The RNG did me a lot of favors...
I was an orc barbarian, born under the candle and a two headed calf was born the same day too. In order to get to neutral alignment (and learn healing) I tried (and failed) to save the puppy and brought the raider lord to justice, but still no luck. I headed to the CoC and found a neutral altar in the second level. Got crowned with fire immunity and Vanquisher! (I think that did the game for me). After farming for a while in the big room I got postcrowned with IronFist, that is not so great but useful still.
I headed down the caverns, did not bother to save Khelly (I had no wishes in this game), clear the water temple with no problems. The fire tower was surprisingly smooth too, I prepared by doing the ice queen quests to get potions of cure corruption, I disabled the ACW and after three shots it was down. I got two surges of power, the boots of divine messenger (nice) and whilrwhind (first time, surprisingly powerful but no demon slaying ammo so I used it mostly for anything not too dangerous).
The first corruption was thrive in the flesh of order (thanks RNG), then I got poison hands, I removed that immediately, then I got thin and nimble, very light, and teleportitis (I never farmed for blink dogs but still found one that gave me a corpse so no problem here).
There were a couple of tense moments. First an undead greater vault, I was foolish enough to try to clean it and after two hits from a ghost lord I almost died but managed to run away (I guess that many of the artifacts were there as I never saw them). Then a doppelganger king managed to get me confused and lowered my health to 50HP, I had to use my wands to get rid of him.
Also, the air temple was scary, the summoner was easy to kill but before he died he summon to greater karmic wyrms who almost got me killed, I had to run away in the hope that I would be able to kill them on the way back (that meant no more potions of cure corruption from Guth'Alak), which I did with no problem. Luckily, the cat lord was nowhere near the stairs (I killed cats as if there was no tomorrow). I should also mention that I never got the High Mountain Village as a doppelganger appeared in the small cave and hit me too hard, I just ran away and never looked back.
My previous orc barbarian died in the Mana Temple. This time around it was close too, when trying to lure the mage out, he teleported right to the door, which meant having to fight him while being surrounded by chaos servants. I had to use the water orb to heal, it gain me whispers of chaos (not terrible).
D50 was straight forward but long, I got corrupted a lot, first rage (not bad), then corrupting attack (I removed it immediately), then bronze bones (kept it), then ice blood (removed), then mana battery (removed), unholy aura (kept), and last bulging craneon (kept). I had to kill all the balors, Fistanarius was tough as almost all of my demon and humanoid ammo was gone but with enough patience he fell. I also summoned three greater elementals to help me clear it (through scrolls), one of them became uninterested in me because of the unholy aura, the other became aggressive and killed the only friendly one. Another lucky break was that I never had to fight a moloch. I found one that was generated friendly, I chatted to him and he replied "Uh?"
Given that this was my first win, I did not wanted to risk it. On the way up I ignored everything but I did stop to kill the black unicorn to get all corruption removed and then left ancardia.
I think the RNG was very helpful this time around, I remember thinking it was impossible to beat ADOM without any exploit, now I know its possible!
Next I am going for an ultra ending... I still believe those are impossible
