Default You hear a distant grunt

Any idea what this message might mean?

A (humanoid?) monster out of LOS wandered into a trap.

    You're welcome.

If I remember correctly, there's some other messages which are similar:

"Pained bark" - a dog/hyena/et cetera went into a trap
"Pained hiss" - a lizard (I think) went into a trap

And I think there's a few others, too.

    Somewhat entertaining strings excerpt:
I like my women like my ADOM loot - hunted as treasure and in extra quantity.

Really? Sounds a little bit off. I'd assume "thunderous roar" is more dragon-like. I'm intrigued about "whinny". Is that for unicorns or ADOM has hidden horses?

If the exploration mode had infinite wishes, all these little quirks could probably be tested normally to the infinite joy of ADOM geeks...

I always thought of thunderous roar being cave lions or cats in general...

Roar is for lions and tigers, thunderous roar is for dragons.
The best way to find this out is to shoot monsters from outside of your line of sight, assuming you don't miss.
Thunderous roar is also true for balors.
Unearthly wail is generally for undead including banshee.
