Halfli err Hurthlings out of luck

Can the curse starting ring for hurthling be any ring or is it limited to a few select ones?
I've had 2 (or was it 3) hurthlings in a row with cursed ring of damage (as seen from examine inventory after death).

Well, yeah. I started out with some amazing rings before
(pretty sure I started with a RoDS once but I never got far enough to actually ID it.)

I think the only ring I didn't start out with was a Ring of Ice.
That would be useful, assuming I ever wanted to do the Lawful gift from the Dwarven Mystic.

I dont remember the Id's of any others I started with, but I don't roll hurthlings that often.

AFAIK, you cannot start with ring of slaying (D:15) or ring of doom (D:5). Ring of damage is DL:1 so you can start with that, and that is generally the worst ring you can hit.

I'd say the "Worst" ring is the Ring of the Fish....

But you can also get:
Ring of Defense
Ring of Protection
Wedding Ring
Ring Resistance ice/fire/acid/stun
.
.
.
Brass ring.....

But the BEST ring you can get is Ring of Mental Stability or Ring of Teleport control,
The former comes is nice stats.

The fastest way to find out would have been 'U'sing it in the wilderness. RoDS give the message "Not here", while other ones result in "You are already wearing the -ring-".

So not trusting collective memory, I generated 60 hurthlings - I got

acid resistance 9
fire resistance 8
brass ring 3
of the fish 10
of damage 3
mental stability 4
searching 6
luck 2
defense
wedding 4
stun resistance 2
protection 4
cold resistance 4
