Default Help, I'm drowning in spellbooks of Divine Wrath!

This stuff right here - http://i.imgur.com/Z50ACs7.jpg - is my spell knowledge. I'm playing as a druid, just reached Dwarftown, mist elf level 12, cleared right side of the map. I'm reading all spellbooks as I find them, with an exception of two Darkness and one Bless which were generated in shops.

I swear half of all books I find is Divine Wrath. What is going on? I can't find Magic Missile, Knock, any other bolts, any ball spells, not even those common Webs or Slow Poisons. I can't even find Light! I'm literally drowning in this one kind of spellbook. I haven't counted how many books overall I found, but it's probably around 16 at this point, +/- a few. Really, how often do you have 2000+ knowledge of any spell as a level 12 character, and it's the second hardest (I think? can't back it up with any research) bolt spell to learn, not just some Darkness.

Did I mention I just found a Divine Wrath spellbook in the Dwarftown shop? It's 7th one or so.

    SEND HELP PLZ

Is it a bug or something? It kinda goes beyond RNG if you ask me. I'll try to keep track of this from now on to have more accurate statistics. I'm running on game version 1.2.0 R59 by the way and Divine Wrath was the one spellbook I started with too. Candle starsign, no special birth messages IIRC.

That happen to me in new R59 .. wizard submerged of lighting bolt spell..two on three books found was lighting bolt and I was complaining that when reached CoC, after all the pre-game, I had a wizard unable to open locked doors or even teleport at will. But PLENTY of sparks, very few magic missile and some Farsight. Weird, usually when I reach this point my wizard have everything he need, and there was no lack of books, just almost always the same book.

Playing a bit more yielded 2 spellbooks: 1 Lordly Might and... 1 Divine Wrath. Still not a good size of the sample, but something's definitely going on.

I'll create a new gray elven wizard (relatively easy spellcaster combination), play up to level 10-12 and see what the spellbook distribution will be there.

Note that divine casters (druids, priests, paladins) tend to get many more books in divine school and fewer in arcane. Bolt spells in general are pretty rare--for a divine caster you typically expect to see lots of healing/slow poison/know alignment type spells. Bolt spells are usually quite rare, and ball spells are extremely rare. Generally you find maybe 2-3 ball spellbooks per game as a divine caster, including the library. Rain of sorrows is definitely worth a wish for priests/druids. I think that druids might have a higher chance of getting divine wrath because it's their signature spell...
Hoping to win with every class, doomed. Archer, Barbarian, Bard, Beastfighter, Druid, Elementalist, Farmer, Fighter, Monk, and ULE Priest down.

This is very interesting. Because I've been playing a Necromancer in R59 and she's drowning in Frost Bolt spellbooks.

Since Divine Wrath is the guaranteed spell for Druids and Frost Bolt the one for Necromancers this looks very suspicious.

What JellySlayer said on spellbook distribution is perfectly true, but this here is nowhere near the distributions I got in previous versions. By the time I arrived at the Library at character level 27, my Necromancer had found 30 (!) books of Frost Bolt and about 15 other spells with 1 to 3 books each, the offensive ones being 1x Burning Hands, 2x Magic Missile, 1x Improved Fireball and (at the Casino) 1x Acid Ball.

Some further testing would be good. All I can say so far is that I haven't seen such a spell spam in previous versions.

I've noticed it too for druids. I'm currently playing a Salamander wizard and about half the books she finds are Fire Bolt.

There was definitely a code change in R57 that affected the spell book distribution in a weird way. I submitted a bug for it a few weeks ago. So if you're having problems, you should click "Can reproduce"

I noticed the exact same thing (Necromancer, Frost Bolt). I read every book to extinction upon gaining them, and by L18 my Frost Bolt had been trained to the 4000s, despite being my primary (only) offensive spell

So, it seems to be directly tied to whether the spellcaster receives a guaranteed spellbook - Druids with Divine Wrath, Necromancers with Frost Bolt, Wizards born under Salamander with Fire Bolt. I tried a non-Salamander Wizard yesterday and the spellbook distribution seemed normal.

I just completed the game with a Human Druid on the new pre-release (first real game). I expected the change was matched to bolt preference. It was helpful but overdone - i finished the game with 4 unread spellbooks of lightning bolt and one unread one of wish. It was nice not running out of the bolt - they took me through every part of the game including D50 except for the nurgy and the new stone beast.

Also: I don't know how to upload bug reports but I got a strange visual bug (not the Noteye version but ASCII) where after bouncing off the ASB, the animation of the bolt (yellow dashes) didn't disappear right away. I don't think it would have zapped me but I didn't check. It took a few turns but it did eventually disappear. I don't have a screen shot nor the internet time to learn how to upload the bug.
Completed: All Races, All Classes. Twice.
Fastest Run: Dwarf Mindcrafter - 34803 turns. No wand of tele.
Challenge Games: C- CK (stupid ending), Platinum Girdle x10, Westside Story, Team Teleport - illiterate troll barb, Scroll of Omnipotence obtained

I played my mist elven Druid a bit more. She finished all dwarven quests, dwarven graveyard, pyramid, R1, R2, Darkforge and the whole FGJC including fire creature greater vault (dragons dropped a lot of additional loot). This all yielded 44 books, out of which 17 were Divine Wrath, almost 40%. Worth noting is the fact that the spellbook distribution from dragon loots seemed relatively normal, while spellbooks generated randomly in dungeons had much more Divine Wrath among them - I even had a streak of 6 or 7 of these in a row.
