Thank you for the guide! I have tried a few Chaos Knights and always get confused about what to do, so this will help a lot! Also its nice knowing that I can probably just melee everything and be okay. How many Chaos Knights have you won with?

Jelly, aging changes your base stats directly without affecting your potentials. I actually just did the toughness trick my last playthrough, I'm speaking from experience.

I'm actually not sure how it'd work if you aged s.t. your new stats exceed your old potentials, and then drink a potion of youth. Obviously I'd expect your potentials to (temporarily) rise to your new base stat values, but would the potentials remain just as high after you revert?

As much as I like melee characters, having an alternative is still good. Every now and then youŽll come across something you just donŽt want to touch. Karmic beings, vortices, things that paralyze like stone oozes, doppelganger kings.

Gnomes. Terrible? They are decent spellcasters(and pretty tough) and fantastic monks, assassins and such(classes whose skillset is combat-full).

There isn't any race that makes a particularly bad monk. Monks have a great skillset and class powers, decent stat modifiers, and have the same starting equipment for basically every race. Ditto for assassins (though gnomes have below-average equipment compared to other races for assassins). Saying that gnomes are great at the classes that every other race is also great at isn't much of an endorsement. They make passable casters, I will grant, but generally not as good as elves.

I probably should just make a separate thread about this.

Please do. My other favorite computer game has a cult of the anti-gnome, ADOM needs one too.

How high on the "reroll this starting corruption" list is the corrupting touch one?

It heals chaos monsters, but amount that you heal is mostly irrelevant if you berserk around with two-handed weapon like i do.
If your roll is fantastic( other than that corruption) you can probably leave it be. But i would probably reroll.

OK, another question. Assuming you're aiming for OCG and you haven't found a C altar yet, what artifacts can you give to the ratling? AMW from pyramid, both raw steel artifacts from Kherab and Moon Sickle, that's four. Phial maybe, though I always have huge problems retrieving it and barely ever try, that's five. What would be sixth? I really like ankh in general, Ring of the High Kings is useful for resistances since elemental gauntlets aren't available, black torc and sword of Nonnak aren't available either and at this point point I'm running out of ideas. Si isn't an option, right? What else then?

And where do you get corruption removal? Druid, Ice Queen and dwarven mystic ignore you, weird tome delivery won't work either I guess. Minotaur emperor doesn't give that much IIRC. Can you at least save Khelavaster? Or do you equip fire resistance, temporarily convert to N and milk NPCs for means of corruption removal?

I randomly rolled a chaos knight and decided to keep him this time. I never really play chaotic characters though so I'm quite lost.

There's no rush to complete the demented ratling quest. Hold off until you've completed the Casino and seen a greater vault, if you can. There's bound to be another artifact or two lying around.
