Default Best place to farm items?

I need to farm some more humanoid slaying ammo for the minotaur maze (and more dragon/demon slaying wouldn't hurt either). Where would be the place to do it? I figured one of the cavernous levels would be the best because of monster generation rate combined with Treasure Hunter. So the question now is: Putrid Cave (R5) or Tomb of the High Kings? Blue Dragon Caves are too deep and corrupting for my liking, so it's only those two. The one with higher danger level would be nice, but if there's any public info about danger levels of random dungeons, I haven't seen it yet.

Or maybe there's something better somewhere else? I think at this point I could handle going to any location, though I'd probably run from the *THUMB* trio.

Gravedigging or TotHK are probably both somewhat viable.
Barbarian hunting may work but wilderness is ... well wilderness.

If you have a high fletchery skill you can craft slayers with some luck.
I think you can wish for slaying ammo and I've done ToHK grinding for RDS with some success.
    I don't have enough experience of R5.

So my suggestion is ToHK, preferably with invis so you can move around at your own leisure.

If you can already get to BDC, have you checked Casino? There's usually tons of slaying ammo there.

The undead graveyards both a great for farming loot. Not just the graves, but just killing all of the undead is actually pretty good.

Greater vaults are also very good. Have you done Frost Giant Caves?

I was only as deep as Water Temple in CoC but since I cleared R6, I'm relatively confident I can dive if necessary. I guess Casino is an option, I haven't thought about it.

Both graveyards are cleared, I suppose I can dig in the dwarven one; possible emperor liches in an early CoC level are a no-no.

Frost Giant Caves has an undead greater vault. It was easy until lich kings started coming out, I lost 7 undead slaying ammo there and had to retreat.

A little note on this: fletchery cannot generate ammunition of -foo- slaying, although it does have a small chance of adding the "of slaying" suffix, which crits everything. Can you imagine getting the "penetrating" prefix on top of that?

Scooter Fox, you might consider logging to the irc channel of adom, where a bot contains information on danger levels of various caves.
Together with dl info about items and monsters, it's a very useful bunch of information when you need to hunt for a particular item.

Thanks, I guess I'll have to finally move my butt outside of rizon then.

My vote would be for the Big Room in the early CoC.

The main danger, or issue, there is being overwhelmed with spawns from dark elf priestesses, blink dogs, and other crap like that. I've rarely seen a truly dangerous monster spawn in there, and it's not a corrupting level.

Besides the massive amounts of loot you'll generate, you've got a good chance of getting some stable herb patterns going in there. Even if you don't have Herbalism, you can stockpile a massive stack of different herbs, and then uncurse the lot with a blessed scroll of remove curse to make them (somewhat) useful.

Gravedigging 'great treasure' graves in the Griffyard/CoC Graveyard seems to give up quite a bit of slaying ammo, but of course, that has the (negligible, but present) risk of getting death-rayed by an angry emperor lich.

Can you imagine getting the "penetrating" prefix on top of that?
Don't critical hits ignore armour anyway?

Nope, just double damage (more for missiles)
