So I rolled a hurthling healer. St: 4, max: 10.
Decided to train it by kicking walls. Bad idea.
Freddo, the hurthling healer, broke his leg on a wall.
(Seriously, what is the point of non-archer hurthlings?)

I don't think kicking walls actually trains St. For stats like those, you might as well just train with burden... you're going to be burdened anyway for sure
I like hurthlings a lot, personally. They're good on any missile or sort-of-missile class. Nice skills, extra talent, fast leveling, free missile marks in the most common missile type, good To/Dx. Easy piety from cooked corpses. They don't do fantastic in pure melee or pure caster, but all of the middle-ground classes they're pretty solid in.
Hoping to win with every class, doomed. Archer, Barbarian, Bard, Beastfighter, Druid, Elementalist, Farmer, Fighter, Monk, and ULE Priest down.
What a tragic image: a young, weedy hobbit finally sets out on his lifetime journey of adventure, finds his first dungeon, eagerly decides to train up by kicking a wall. He breaks his leg, and slowly dies. The only mercy is that he never realised how futile his fatal action was...
