Curtis has been travelling through the Chain slowly but steadily...
R5:3 brought with it an easy precrowning- ants were generated on this guaranteed cavernous level, as was a coaligned altar. I got the purifier from precrowning, which sucks given that I'm playing a beastfighter. It looks like an incredibly good weapon, as well... cruel joke, Lol'th. On the same floor, a killed dark sage dropped a corpse, unveiling the secrets of literacy to Curtis.
I almost died on the pyramid due to being sickened by a greater mummy- I might skip out on it this game simply due to that near death experience.
I then began the climb into the depths of the Caverns of Chaos. The Big Room wasn't too kind with its herb generation, giving only feasible quantities of moss and morgia roots. D:10 is the first real scare- at the edge of my vision, I spot a gorgon (which I've fled from for now). D:11 is where Dwarftown ended up. Upon getting Thrundarr's second quest, I begin to venture through the Dwarven Halls, and have a scare with a Frost Giant... thankfully, I had an assortment of wands to deal with the situation. Otherwise, the delve into the Dwarven Halls was uneventful. D:15 generated a beehive and a river, and I couldn't find Khelevaster on D:16 for the life of me. I returned to Thrundarr and finished the quest with the ogre cave, ran back past the D:10 gorgon and became champion of the arena. I exited the caverns in hopes of finding an amulet of petrification resistance somewhere I hadn't ventured to before.
If you're wondering why most of my items are cursed, it's because I sacrificed something on the dwarftown altar and suffered divine retribution. Why? I don't know, to be honest.

Purifier, oh the joys of playing a Beastfighter.
I like my women like my ADOM loot - hunted as treasure and in extra quantity.
And Curtis has bitten the dust. It's not like I was really expecting to go that far, but I think I went a fair distance for someone who's only been playing for a month...
I found an Amulet of Petrification Resistance in the High Mountain Village, finished Thrundarr's last quest (getting the daemon to kill Ruun and converting the altar afterwards), and sacrificed the Big Punch on that altar. I found Khelevaster with a Wand of Monster Detection (the door was in an odd location haha), and D:17 was the graveyard. I played it safely (using the wand of fireball you get from Thrundarr's second quest to kill vampires, one of them having ended a previous beastfighter of mine), but ultimately a combination of greater mummies and liches confused, paralyzed, starved and sickened me to death.
The low attributes were from the starvation and sickness. I had my strength drained four times from vampires, as well.
I'm just curious, how am I supposed to go about clearing the graveyards? You need:
1) better PV. I would say at least 20 at this point. Dark elves have small toughness and beastfighers do not use shields, so it may be more difficult, but your girdle and gauntlets slots are empty. Have you never found any PV increasing items for those slots?
2) means to cure sickness. Blessed healing points (but they are not 100% effective), prayers work too but usually you need two in a row, one to heal hit points and another to get rid of sickness. But best of all, non-cursed curaria mancox herbs.
3) paralysis resist (amulet of free action) is very useful although liches have weak paralazying attack so decent PV is enough.
4) confusion resistance against liches. Willpower > 20 and/or rings of mental stability, helmets of mental stability and some artifacts help. Otherwise be prepared to wander a lot.
5) fire resist against lich ranged attacks. Most often chars have intrinsic resistance from eating certain corpses at this point, otherwise rings of fire resistance and some other items help.
6) and then there are vampires. As with any stat drainers, close combat is not recommended so use missiles (dark elven beastfighers are very good with them), wands or spells. If your PV is > 25, melee is OK but you will still get an ocassional crit.
If you are not strong enough to clear graveyard but want to progress further, you can use wands of digging given by Khellevaster to dig top right corner of the graveyard and run towards the stair case. But clearing it does provide good EXP.
Also, don't get surrounded. If you feel that your char is weak, fight one monster at a time.
I like my women like my ADOM loot - hunted as treasure and in extra quantity.
Well, I am not so sure it is good idea to clear it at this level with beastfighter (or any melee char ). Just dig from upper coriidor in eastern part and dash for stairs.
If you want to clean... scrolls were best bet (would need to bless them).
