Eating Ancient Chaos Wyrm gave no strength?

I ate the ancient chaos worm with 31 strength and a potential of 34. I think Instead of 3 strength and 1 mana, I just got 4 mana. Is this a thing that happens sometimes cause I don't normally eat the corpses but this playthrough I have 10 socrr

I often push str and do toef late. Acw is rarely worth eating for str unless you are below 25 and have a higher potential.
Net result is often zero str and very lackluster compared to the other guardians.
