Default When RNG had it out for you... And you came out top?

We all have these games where it feels like the RNG has it out for you... but you power through it and emerge victorious?

    Contains Spoilers

I started a neat Dark Elf Archer with the mindset of going for an ultra. Everything went smoothly until I went to take the artifacts to the demented ratling. To my surprise, he did not exist in the city. After a long and vigorous search and even a scroll of detect monsters, I concluded that it must've been killed by the greater demon. No biggie, no ultra, can still finish game. I decide to get crowned, Whirlwind, perfect...ly useless. As I descend to the tomb of ancient kings, a vortex blows up my wand of ice.

Luckily I get a new armor drop that appears to weight 10s to replace my heavy non-archery mail! Yay! Trapped elven chainmail of order. So now I got an ADOM equivalent of herpes burning at my C- character on me with no way to remove it. Yay! Life's good. Now without the ring of high kings nor the patience to build a bridge with bridge building skill of .. 5 or something, I decide to go past the Eternal Guardian and try to finish the game before my god smites me down. I succeed to lure him out and teleport to the stairs... After spawning 13 additional ones. Great success! I then take the stairs up a few levels later to Darkforge, only to realize I can't go back because of an eternal pain in the ass. No biggie.

Since I'm up here, I decide that I might as well just go check ID and see if I can descend to SIL before I get murdered by my deity due to alignment change of the ever-burning trapped thing. I honestly had never had one so I didn't take it was a risk with my inventory stacked with scrolls of uncursing and holy water. Anyway, some luck... Somewhere along the way, I found a potion of exchange I could use to get rid of my armor... maybe there's hope afterall.

I retrieve the sceptre and head back up. Obviously I didn't realize it corrupts while in the inventory so a good 8 corruptions later I ditch it somewhere around ID 30. Looking good. As a bonus, I had gained some level though and I had 8 humanoid slaying quarrels. At this point I figure, I'll just bruteforce my way through the eternal guardians.

It took.... a while to grind them down with 8 humanoid slaying quarrels (that obviously ran out relatively fast) and the rune-covered trident. But a net of +9 levels or so. Yet, there was still the one who wanted the ring. No ring, time to do it again. After a few more (heh), I managed to teleport on the stairs again. As I entered the casino (for the second time), the game crashed. Thank god for autosaves though, I only went back to roughly the point where I started my "work" on the eternal guardians. It didn't go differently the second time though, so yay for that.

The rest was surprisingly smooth as I didn't really need more gear or levels to finish the game (a couple of scrolls of corruption removals dropped on D:50, so guess that was lucky). I guess it all turned out ok.

(I get it that this was at least 50% bad play )

I think top of RNG/stupidity in the last year happened in Air Temple level. So my drake assassin (or maybe hurthling with cold blood corruption, can't recall exactly), so she drops the stuff on stairs one level bellow to avoid item destruction and before attacking temple decides to explore the level... (bad play - don't run around looking for trouble with no equipment).

About second room she sees is tension of ancient white dragons... So I get slowed and they steadily picking her apart in the long corridor leading to stairs. Well, I used prayers and switch to water orb, about second corruption from orb was acid blood, which saved the day.

In the end I essentially just lost a tad of piety...
So far rolled 15 casters with RoDS and shamelessly killed them within 200 turns. For eternium glory!
    (after 15 I stopped counting...)
