After my August 30 attempts at an OCG, I decided to keep trying, as the main reason I had started playing 1.2.0 was to get an OCG.

Since my furthest August 30 attempt was a Drakeling Wizard, I decided to try a few more of those.

I had been trying SMC dive, but I decided to play this one a bit more carefully- since she started with TP and Magic Map books. I generated SMC and did the early game quests, and then headed down to UD. I almost died there in the SMC, as I forgot that I didn't have teleport control, but luckily landed in the downstair room by chance. UD had a lawful altar, which was nice, as I planned to be lawful for most of the game. I didn't want to precrown without some food, so I finished UD and headed to CoC.

I found an herb patch above DT, and headed back to turn lawful and precrown so that the DT altar could be lawful as well. I got the Holy Scarf, which was wonderful as it made normal combat pretty much a breeze, and took up a slot that would not be useful for a long time. I then headed back to DT, did some quests and headed to the Pyramid and Griffyard with the fireball wand. Nothing went too out of the ordinary there, and I grabbed TPC from the ID and then headed back to CoC for the rest of the quests.

I thought I might want to poolsip to save Khelly for the extra SoCR, but eating wight corpses had turned me N and the mystic gave me the scrolls. I went to DF first, to see if I could even fight the golems. I couldn't do any damage, until I was reminded of acid breath, and it could 10-12 hit them, which was good enough. It gave me white dragon scale mail, but no good spear, so I was stuck with my mithril spear for now. I killed Khelly and got the water orb, then got the RotHK.

I had no ball spells, so magic missile would have to do for ACW killing. It took almost all the castings that I had, but he went down. I knew that the casino had to have some combination of good spellbooks and SLBs for this OCG to be reasonably possible, as it was day 73 already, and I still had no ball spells or over 400 castings of any offensive spell. Luckily it came through, with two SLBs and a RoDS. I suffocated the shopkeep and got my spellbooks of Acid Ball. I had been a dirty cat killer, but the Cat Lord was not between the staircases. I dove to D:48 for that sweet XP and was merrily going along, until I open a door and saw a Greater Titan threat room staring back at me. I scurried out of there, but hanging over my head the whole game was that room near a couple of the anomalies.

Thanks to SLBs I could finally get my climbing trained up and to 100. I went to the library and got the Weird Tome for the scrolls. Reading both them and the Casino books with the Crown of Science gave me enough casting to last for a long while. Now that I had Improved Fireball, I headed to the Bug Temple to get its rewards. The elven chain mail was [0,+2], but I wore it anyway for the health boost, and improved it with the scrolls that I had found.

It was day 84, so I decided that it was time to get the Sceptre while I still had pre-90 corruption. I slowly made my way down, and just regenerated any levels with thumps. Malakai picked up the scepter, so I MM'd him in a long hallway until he dropped. The climb up got me ~2.5 corruptions, which was not as bad as I thought it would be.

I knew I would need every last corruption removal I could get, so I did the Maze, as I was only level 26. I got pretty bad luck, but the SoMM from BUGWIL and autoexplore got me through. The PoGAs were nice, but I had so little water that they had to sit in Ogre Cave for a while.

I figured I should do the remaining temples, since if I was going to get a YASD, might as well be earlier rather than later. They all went down pretty easily, as I had 48 Wi Acid Balls with Nonnak and Water Orb equipped. However, among the loot from them was both the scroll of danger and the wand of monster creation that I needed.

I cleared the GGV from CoC, and got the Crown of Leadership, and the Shirt of the Saints. This gave me enough water for the rest of the game, finally. I also, headed to IQD for the first time to see what the vault was. It was GGV as well, and I got Executor and Whirlwind- both which were pretty much unused. With more PoCCs in hand, I killed the Chaos Diplomat for the stat boost, and was ready to turn evil.

I killed the Greater White Unicorn and Ice Queen and one of her stalkers. That was enough to get me to C. Ratling fed (with the AotME+standard 5), Crone satisfied. I headed to the Ancient Stone Circle and took Keriax down rather easily, as I learned that potions of cure poison are very effective. Killed three dwarves, sac'd animals on a neutral altar and surrounded it with doors. Sac'd the vault gold for crowning for Staff of the Archmagi- oh well. Time for the final descent.

That Greater Titan threat room? Still there, but I thought I could TP to the anomalies and quickly leave. I managed to put them all in, but got blocked when I tried to TP to the stairs. I TP'd to a hallway nearby and that a Greater Titan had picked up the Trinity that I had left next to the stairs. I was seriously worried that I could not kill it, but Magic Missile slowly got the job done while he didn't shoot any quarrels, I assume because I stood far away. Trinity reacquired.

Uselessness was Grod. I got to D:50 and warmed myself up. I thought I would ninja the gate, but decided to clear for XP- it ended up being the right idea. I slowly cleared it with Magic Missile and Acid Ball, until I realized that I did have Alchemy and high Wi. That made it easy to clear and only using most PP to fight balors safely. Once everything was cleared, I check my inventory to come up with a plan. My plan was to PoCC, RCT until it didn't return, then Acid Ball him to death.

I put on the Trinity and uncursed them, then w5'd at the game until I was corrupted enough. 10 Scroll and 9 Potions would have to do it. There was no need to drink PoRC, as C-, chaos crowned, post-90, D:50 with 3 corrupting artifacts equipped did just fine getting corrupted fast enough. I should have drank all my boost potions before I entered, but I was so nervous that I forgot.

Chaos Plane- I dropped the Trinity, removed a lot of corruptions, drank boost speeds, and readied my PoCC. Andy found me just fine, and was kind enough to stand perfectly still the entire fight. I hit him with PoCC, and then started using RCT. I missed every time (check out those missile weapon marks for one reason why), so I figured it was time to start using Acid Ball.

Terrible idea. Acid Ball is so, so bad for the Andy fight. Now that you take so much damage from HP casting, Acid Ball rips you to shreds, even if you Alertness your way out of all his damage. Luckily ster from the discord chat had told me that he rarely shrugged and Acid Bolt would make him less fast. I started using Acid Bolt, and it was a huge improvement. I could hit him a lot before using a healing potion when I hit 300 HP. He summoned quickling kings, which I did Acid Ball, but other than that it was bolt all the way.

I had to removal tentacle mouth four times, but the 6 boost speed potions pulled their weight. I used a TP wand to move around from his summoned things while keeping him in line to Acid Bolt- although this might be an Alertness-only strategy.

Eventually he went down, and I got the ending I always had wanted.

I would like to thank the people on the discord channel. I asked a lot (a lot, seriously a lot) of questions on how to do certain things and what was the best way to go about them. They had patience for my poor understanding of the ADOM late game.

PS- if Trinity is going to triple doom, curse, corrupt you, at least let the Trinity have everything you need for Andy. -Para on Medal or Crown thx.

PPS- Why does Crown not autocurse?
