    Default Too many elves.

    This game has too many elves; which just differ slightly. The random race roll should be weighted to compensate for all the elves.

    So, how about based on race population? 30% human, 40% orc, 10%hurthling 10% ratling 5.9949999% dwarf 1% gnome 1% drakeling 1% troll .5%dark elf .5%high elf .005% grey elf .00000001% mist elf

    I maybe spent way too long thinking of population percentages for the imaginary races in a video game. Forgive me, my kid is napping on me.

    How about just have a roll for elf as a race group, then if elf is rolled have a 2nd roll for sub race.

    That would make a lot more sense really. I actually think I remember hearing that you can exclude certain races and classes from your random roll, I just never paid attention to how it was done.

    There's a mask in the config file you can apply to generate only random from some subset of race/class/gender. You could at least remove, say, High Elves from play, if you're doing a lot of random characters.
    Hoping to win with every class, doomed. Archer, Barbarian, Bard, Beastfighter, Druid, Elementalist, Farmer, Fighter, Monk, and ULE Priest down.

    Ooh how/where do I do that?
    I want to remove chaos knight, beastfighter, candle star sign and sometimes trolls/mistelves... (hrm maybe it's time I won as mist elf).

    In your ADOM/adom_dat directory (don't know the OS version), there should be a file called adom.cfg. Open in text editor. Scroll to the bottom and add the line:
    Race_Mask = bk (remove troll/mist elf)
    Class_Mask = tu (remove beastfighter/CK)
    There isn't a mask for starsign, AFAIK. You can see in the commented section just above the text which letter each race/class corresponds to if you want different masks (high elf is c, for example).

    If you haven't played with this file before, I also recommend adding:
    Show_Experience = true (shows xp after each kill)
    Ghosts_Deactivated = true (if you hate ghosts)
    Show_Newbie_Advice = false (removes some tutorial hints)

    And changing
    Base_Delay_Factor = 1 (greatly speeds up missile/spell animations)
    Fast_Missile_Readying = false (it won't immediately try to reload missiles when you run out, which I find very annoying)

    If you want to use Auto_Pickup, you can also specify it here. For example:
    Auto_Pickup = ~!$*()=[]{}\'"/?
    This picks up everything except food and rocks (which is what I use for Casino gathering). Ingame, you can enable/disable autopickup with Ctrl-a (it takes 2000 energy to autopickup, so best to turn it off while fighting).

    Thanks a lot, I have been messing with the file before to turn on exp and turn off auto reload and some other minor things.
    Auto pickup is crazy, no way I'd want that.
    Got to try the "base delay" setting.

    Auto Pickup is very handy, I use it all the time for various different things. Like collecting rocks for sling ammo in PC2, after I let the ants run a bit.
