Are killer bugs supposed to hit often through 117 DV?

I just lost a very powerful wizard in the Bug Temple, since i remember 117 DV being enough in the older versions to survive it.

Well, to be honest, i would've been able to survive it this time too, but i did not really pay attention, remembering that it used to be a piece of cake before.

Yes, they can. Don't underestimate the killer bugs.

Wasn't the probability of getting hit using the formula X/(DV+X)?
If so, you are going to be hit no matter how high your DV is.
