    Default Cannot start the game because of error "Can't determine the 'my documents' directory"

    Hello all,

    I hate that my first post here is an ask for help, but I am really interested in playing this game.

    I am interested in buying the Steam version, but first I wanted to try the free version to make sure I'd enjoy it.

    The problem is, the game won't start!
    I get two errors one right after the other.

    "Can't determine the 'my documents' directory"
    followed immediately by
    "Couldn't switch to directory " 3 was called for."

    I have checked Google, but there was no information that helped me.

    Any suggestions would be welcome an appreciated.

    Some additional info:

    I'm running Windows 10, downloading the latest free version for Windows.
    I unzipped the files into an Adom directory and ran the exe as administrator.

    I would worry most about running as administrator. Mostly because running anything you download from the net as Admin is dubious. Have you run as a normal user? Did you download the correct OS?

    Hello and thanks for your reply.

    I'm also usually wary of running anything as administrator, but I do trust this site.
    Running the game in administrator or normally yield the same result.

    I have the exact same problem. I posted about this over a month ago to the Steam forum, and I haven't even so much as received an acknowledgement from the team. Way to go!
