The entire point of this thread is to move certain other threads off the front page. I figured youd all rather see my spam then an actual spammers spam. We should insert metatags into the comments that stop search engines from linking to them. Such as isohunt.com has done. That would surely detract from the attractiveness of spamming our forums.

As I said before, spam is like entropy. (Or more precisely: the quantity of spam / minute is). It will always increase.

At least we haven't seen much cases yet where regular threads are bombarded with shoes and porn, because that's what I fear most. In another forum I regularly visit there was a moment where every normal thread got repeatedly spammed with 20 - 30 posts, utterly disrupting the functionality of the forum. Luckily they managed to get things under control again there.

EDIT: Jeesh, I just saw the mess in "ADOM RPG" category. Uhm, never mind whatever I said about things being not so bad yet. I guess I understand what you mean now. Whoever invented this type of spambot deserves some nice brutal medieval torture.

This bot has posted hundreds of spam threads. Hundreds. The user already is an Ancient Member!

Our forums are being taken over by the Forces of Chaos; seems that corruption has multiplied already, before the 90th day of the invasion.

So far this bot is ruining the "ADOM RPG" category, but no others. If a bot like this attacks the "general discussion" category we are screwed.

It seems to post 2 threads per minute. There are 60*24=1440 minutes per day, so we will have 2880 new threads per 24 hours. 20160 in a week.

A *real* problem we only get when TB's server can't handle it anymore and TB decides to remove the forums.

But we probably just need a better captcha.
