Remember to generate SMC early :/ With a decent pet it's not too hard to fetch the blanket immediately in fact, though you obviously need some care. I'd recommend getting another bear soon, and getting a killer bug pet as soon as possible (can be done at level one, but it is a little easier after getting a few levels and a few more meatshie- I mean, loyal pets).

One nice thing about slow levelling (and you will level *very* slowly) is that you can prepare better for the level bonuses and get more of an effect from them. Having said that though, you're unlikely to have decent weapon skills in general, and it's only with a bit of luck that the random spells will be of real use...

technically i can equip rusty broken short spear and "beat" stone golem with it untill i get no marks. Then find another golem...
I wouldn't be so sure for low marks. They won't go into 12 or13 but if i hit bard power on top on broken spear gambit and squeeze in Barth training... I would say 10 is achievable. Played a bit and will write some summary soon.

Ant queen has enough PV to survive most of that lot I'd say. You can keep bringing back more giant ant warriors to clear the room out.

For weapon marks I would definitely advise using swamp hydras in the wilderness to train bows and crossbows, since you will need to have decent values in those to be able to effectively deal with the likes of balors and dragons later on.

Yellow * is a will o'the wisp. Pretty rare indeed.

It seems I usually find will o' the wisps in the high kings dungeon.

A good way to scum some missile marks is to shoot the Old Barbarian
while using the water as a sheild. If you use rocks, and your tactics
are set to coward, you will deal something like 1d4 -98 damage. Once
your marks max out, then switch tactics to Berserk : )

I also think you can handle that tension room.
"Whip me!" pleads the adom player. The rng replies... "No."

I can probably connect every combination of color and symbol to the NPCs or creatures they represent with 99% accuracy from memory, incidentally. I've played entirely too much of this damn game.

Hmm, I for one would recommend careful prep for exploitation of shambling mound lightning XP feature...
