    Default Injuries

What about injuries and their effects? This can be treated like corruptions - a list of them exists, and under certain circumstances it is possible you aquire a "disabling" injury.

Some of the following examples are probably bad, some are maybe better, it's all just examples. I want to illustrate the potential of the idea and the broad range of possible game diversity that can come with it.

Also, some stuff that reduces pain/temporarily allows to ignore such effects comes along with it. And how will something like that be healed? The surgeons shop? A very very blessed and extra potion of cure something could help, too. By chance, some can get better over time. Or worse. Any wound attributed as "open wound" can lead to additional sickness caused by inflamation/blood poisoning. Some things could also be permanent, but only have symptoms that occur at times.

Hmm, maybe your shoulder breaks upon a critical hit, and your axe will lose damage output and accuracy, or even you experience pain if not switching to the other hand. You can use some magic to restore functionality, but only for some time, while you take even more damage ignoring the bruise.

Getting a hurt leg is bad for carrying capacity, kicking and walking speed.

Magically induced depression leads to overall stat losses.

Your precious archer can loose one of his eyes on very rare occasions, e.g. there might be monsters with an extremely painful staring, or just very very skilled ratling archers. Then, of course, he will shoot much worse, and will have to learn to compensate for the disability (or somehow replace the eye).

A hit on the inner organs will lead to death eventually, if no cure can be found in time. Maybe first aid can provide a temporary stabilization.

Brain damage produces occasional amnesia, blackouts, headaches, dysorientation/confusion and learning malus (or in rare cases even a huge boon to learning? - special island talents like extremely enhanced fire magic?)

Perhaps a potion of youth could be some kind of universal remedy for all of these.

I like this :-) Although one must be careful to not make the game too difficult for the one PC (because he/she will be injured frequently).

It can make the first aid skill more useful for helping to deal with difficult injuries.

There could also be various conditions the PC is born with in addition to injuries, for example:

You have a fast metabolism(Food consumption increases 10%, you overcome poison/sickness/paralysis 20% faster)
You are nearsighted(Perception reduced by 5, +10% chance to learn spells from a book)
You are farsighted(Perception increased by 5, -10% chance to learn spells from a book)
    etc...
