Thread: Perfect-looking full screen ADOM in Vista.

Hmm I attached a screen but not sure if it will appear. However if it does, heres a screen from my Dosbox/ADOM. The "background" is fucked up, it's all black but this is just the screenshot. Anyway, I like this font

Only registered users can view them.

Here's a few. I experimented with fonts, and as you can see, I tried using Adomsage wall blocks too. I prefer, when when not playing fullscreen, that my ADOM window still covers a lot of the screen.

EDIT: Grrr, it converted my images into this useless JPG format.

Vista must have gotten some weird bastardisation of the Lucida font then. Check out below how it looks on XP for me, with ClearType anti-aliasing turned on. Smooth and pretty, in my opinion

(bonus points for identifying race, class and starsign of the character, though it's not exactly hard)

Personally I like to play in a large window too, and the Lucida console font is more easily resizable than the default console font.

If I get a chance I'll get a screenshot of how it looks on my Linux laptop - that has a really pretty console font...

    Per Killer:
The font on your screen looks great to my eyes.
That's the way ADOM should look in my opinion,
although the wall colors don't seem quite correct.
The aspect ratio of your full screen pic is 1.6 to
1, which is also my idea of proper.

    Elone:

To my eyes, the font type looks pleasant, and the
color of the chaos servant looks quite close to
accurate. The screen looks a bit squished to me
though, and with an aspect ratio of 2.1 to 1, I
    think it looks too distorted.

    Grey:
I can't express the passionate hatred I have for
the font you use. The fact that you like such a
donkey-sucking font makes me vomit in my mouth a
little bit. An aspect ratio of 1.9 to one isn't
abysmal, but the colors ARE. Just so you know,
large rations are SUPPOSED to appear as brown,
    not puke-yellow : )

Haha, now I know, what you are talking about. Yes, I am with you, gut, and yours is the font I am using happily. Just the right boldness, not too thin. The same about your font, peerkiller. The font is one of the reasons why I never liked playing on the server really... (although you supposedly are able to change it) .. mine is here attached, can't take a screenshot from the fullscreen, because of the resolution change though..

EDIT: colors are not as colorfur on the image, strangely...
EDIT: @grey ... grey elven wizard? starsign I see no sign for.

Colours are easily customised :P Personally I prefer the lighter brown colour so that the menus don't look horrible. YOUR font is blocky and simply uglier than a moloch's arse. I'm curious to see how it looks in-game though.

Correct r/c, but you need to look harder to find the starsign...

It's the one with lawful tendencies, wand if I remember right.

And I'm gotten perfectly used to the basic Linux terminal font and colors, same as on the server on default. Never play ADOM fullscreen nowadays... I prefer window, so it's easier to do something on the side, watch for IRC comments or something.

It sounds like someone is doing some drilling in 5 am, wtf? Not everyone is supposed to wake this early...

Well, some of us just don't go to bed that early : )

    Anyway...

    Blocky?! Moloch's arse?!
It's SUPPOSED to have a retro look! This game was made
    like, 30 years ago!

Your font substitutes true style for modern [spit] flash.
It's so curvy and wavy it makes me sea-sick. I suppose
that explains my urge to vomit when I look at it.

Here is an example of how ADOM looks when not hindered
by a font that spawns from the essance of evil.

Gut, I'd like to know how you managed to set this font. I tried setting something similar up, but my console didnt give me enough options. As for the colours, ADOM gives really odd colours when not in fullscreen (witness grey's colours... i think). I found that little lifesaver, the shortcut which emulates the original ADOM fullscreen colours, in both full and windowed modes.

gut's font seems the same as my default font, which is okay to use but has no resizing options.

From what I hear on OSX you have a much nicer choice of fonts to use
