Actually, when rethinking the happenings, gut might have a point. At least was the karmic dragon really hitting me hard, and some items of resistance could have changed this one...

in the long run, i do not think I think I only would have gotten far if I just had not played on but had break instead. So death was inevitable , since I seemed to not wanting to stop playing.

Second, I think it would have been quite possible to do the thing without any drains (not without aging though, but who cares) if played more carefully. But care is nothing a beastfighter wants to mess around with.

If I ever meet such a huge undead vault and if I ever happen to have such a mighty character at that point with the necessary abilities that this one had... I will do better, promised.

Indeed, a few resistances were missing : )
They're easy to get, for the most part. -acid from ants,
=cold from the AMW, and -fire/lit from the Elemental
Gauntlets. There's not a big difference between 1 source
and 2 sources, but between 1 and zero, yeah.

I once had a sure-game-winnin' elf wizzy die to opening
the door to a room of black dragons. No -acid was the
death of me in a single turn.

Acid can be annoyingly hard to get - few pieces of equipment grant it, and you have to be fairly lucky with corpses. Ants can drop corpses infuriatingly infrequently sometimes.

I had a character die to being frozen by opening a door to meet with a bunch of ancient white dragons. AMW was in inventory too but I wanted to wear my black dragon scale pimp coat.
