The word 'save' sometimes means 'except'.
    That's English for you : )
"Whip me!" pleads the adom player. The rng replies... "No."

Thanks. you guys are right about the missles. generally I forget about the missles and charge the characters in to shred the enemy to bloody chunks. I suppose its the other way around with wizards and archers though...

Another tip, if I may add: control. For beastfighters, it's most likely
going to come from items. Wands of Webbing, Wands of Paralyzation,
Scrolls and Crystals of Darkness. Increasing your own speed makes
surviving easier too, but remember that it cuts your XP. You also
want resistances to anything that could control you - sleep,
    paralysis, confusion, insta-death.

If you're fighting things with multiple attacks (red dragons and
ancient red dragons come to mind...that's what killed my highest
beastfighter down on D:44 or something), be sure to heal yourself
extra early. Maybe at 50% HP or something, because those multiple
attacks can turn into multiple criticals and kill you if you're low on
    health.
    Code:
    Really kick the child? [y/N]
