Hey, I just got Hawkslayer and before I talked to him I dropped some stuff on the ground for him to equip. Among the stuff was a Ring of Invisibility and when he put it on, did not turn invisible. Can someone tell me why????

When in darkness, you can always see the light (unless you're in ADOM)
Most successful combos for me: Grey elf wizards, trollish healers, dark elf beast-fighters, Gnomey monks, and any race barbarians.
Are you SURE he actually put the ring on? Far as i remember he doesn't equip rings, though he might pick them up and not give them back. The only items i remember him being able to equip are boots, gauntlets, cloaks, and shields. Also i don't think npcs benefit from item intrinsic effects like invisibility, fire resistance etc etc. Still IF he actually will equip rings, then handing him rings of damage or something might be quite helpful.

I haven't yet finished an ADOM game, but i haven't given up on trying yet either.
It's better this way I think; if you manage to turn him invisible and don't find him again, you might end up accidentally attacking him.
Either way, casting Invisibility on him during combat should help.
ADOM Guides - whatever you wanted to know about playing a certain class, but have been afraid to ask!
Check out my youtube channel to see my ADOM videos, including a completed playthrough of the game. I try to give instructions, so if you want to see some place you haven't been before and get some hints on how to deal with it, this might help! There's also some other games featured there that you might find interesting.
I don't think Hawk wears rings, though he will pick
them. I know monsters won't get things like -fire if
they equip weapons or armor that grant it, and I think
the same is true for everything. A cloak, on the other
hand, may work.
"Whip me!" pleads the adom player. The rng replies... "No."
Monster equipment basically doesn't work properly. Even a lot of the potions they drink have different effects. Monsters aren't the same as players.

Well, I did have the mummy wrapping on at first, but then I took it off. Yes he did equipped the ring. But still he was not invisible. I don't remember having the intrinsic, but shouldn't he still have a name like "Hawkslayer, the invisible bury adventurer" when I 'L'ook at him?
