TB(Turbo Boost) was implementing and fixing faster than I could read his updates today.
I challenge all with access to the latest preleases, to play as much as possible.
So we can get the bugs and balance sorted. Very exciting times.

Agreed, it was really cool to log in today (after a day of no Internet due to ISP issues) and see three pages of unread comments in the issue tracker. Go development go

I'm slightly disappointed with the new "updates" and "improvements". Nobody bothered with changing 7lb, pick pocketing, gremlins and all that in 10 years and now there's so many changes. Don't get me wrong, bug fixes are great, but I'm having problems with these balance issues. Take pick pocketing, for example. If you think the rewards are too great, with the possibility of getting Preserver from a simple goblin, then why don't you make a concious decision to not pick pocket it? Save it for greater molochs or something.
I guess I'm just unhappy that the game is going to get a lot harder. No more relatively easy wishes, or good loot from the Dwarven Graveyard (from pick pocketing). I feel like people that find the game too easy or boring can easily apply some restrictions to their game, in order to make it more challenging, but because of their whining I'm sure I'll find less pleasure in it, at least until I get used to these news modifications.
People like different things in their games, and I loved going around exploring every cave, picking up every item, pick pocketing every monster and then reading a blessed scroll of identify and seeing all those goodies. Dragon vaults were a real treat for me, and I always looked forward to them. And don't get me started on greater red/white dragon vaults. I love ADOM and I'll never stop playing it, but I hope the changes turn out to be less drastic than I'm imagining.
It's almost 1AM and I have a mancold, so I'm not going to apologize for this post

I understand your concern, but you can rest assured. I'm almost certain not all the changes will remain as they were made today. We will play and see that it is maybe too difficult, then counter request for an easier/reasonable alternative.
Or we'll find that it is challenging, but still do-able and keep it as is.

I'm actually feeling better after reading your reply Stingray
It's not that the game is too difficult for me, I've won with every race and missing three classes in order to have won with all of them. I consider myself an experienced player and definitely super spoiled It's just that I enjoy the loot in ADOM, which is why my favourite classes are thief (you see why) and bards, especially those that start with the Detect Item Status skill. I guess I should have realized the following, before posting my previous wall of whine: TB's done such an amazing job with ADOM so far, it's highly unlikely that what little changes he's been doing so far will ruin the game, or make it unpleasant.
All I can suggest is to look forward to pre7 and the "middle-ground" wrt Pickpocketing. Who knows maybe thiefs won't be affected too much, but I can't say.
We can always request for something different.

Not all of the changes make things harder. Scrolls of power have been boosted for instance, which could make some areas easier. The suggestions have been to remove abuses, which overall should affect the game little. But feel free to suggest other stuff to make areas easier.

I know that feeling. But why do you mention dragon vaults? Dragons can't be pickpocketed and none of the changes made today affects them to my knowledge. The loot from those vaults should still be just as great.
Anyway, I'm eager to see how Pick Pockets and casino gold have been altered in order to remain in the game but reduce scumming potential. TB was pretty mysterious about the changes he made.

It was a poor example, I realize, but one has a lot of loot after emptying one of those vaults, which means that when I identify my inventory and go through it I usually have a big smile on my face
Scrolls of power boost is nice, yeah, but we'll see how much that actually affects game play for non spellcasters, seeing as how difficult it is to read books now.
