Default Trollish Bard Versus Atypical Puppy Cave Vault

Usually I get gnolls and hyenas in the Puppy Cave vault, but this time, I got wolves- the first time in scores of games.

As if the 10000 character limit isn't vicious enough:

That explains why other people's attachments seem to always be zipped. Zipped files can be up to 976.6 KB.

I rolled a random character and ended up with a trollish bard. I went through the Unremarkable Dungeon, getting a waterproof blanket in the process. After a quick stop in the High Mountain Village, I obtained the Healing skill by leading Yrrigs to Jharod. In the Village Dungeon, I converted a chaotic altar to neutral...while I was chaotic. Because of a bug, religion is broken in 1.2.0p3 unless you're lawful. I was curious what would happen if I completed both healing quests, so that's what I did. Hotzenplotz told me to visit the doctor, as usual, and when I talked to the doctor, he said that there isn't anything he could do for me. He gave a scalpel and an uncursed stethoscope.

Next, I went to the Puppy Cave and descended to the bottom. In the cavernous level, I found about two dozen blink dog corpses (though I had already eaten one much earlier in the game). The vault was full of wolves, some werewolves, and at least one werewolf lord. Before beginning to complete the vault, I met a bad omen when an orc butcher hit me for about 70 HP. After standing around for awhile, waiting for time to heal my wounds, I began to complete the vault, but I met trouble when I faced the werewolf lord. The werewolf lord was a fierce and quick opponent, and my character was too slow and stupid to deal with it.

When I finally came to my senses, I had about 12 HP, 70 speed, and my bane was one square to my left. Unless I gained a ton of HP in one turn, moved a ton of squares in one turn, or eliminated a ton of the werewolf lord's HP in one turn, I would die. The way I saw it, I had the following options:
    - Pray (risky because earlier conversions and 0 sacrifices)
    - Zap a wand
    - Drink a potion

Drinking a potion was out of a question. My most powerful identified potion was an uncursed potion of healing, which would give me 7 HP on a (very) good day, and then I would die the next turn. Drinking a random potion would have a very low chance of getting something useful, like extra healing, especially since I already had identified ultra healing.

Zapping wands would be more feasible than potion-quaffing, but still infeasible. My two identified wands were magic missile and acid. A wand of acid brought the werewolf lord down from slightly to moderately injured, so I would need something more powerful, like death ray. After looking through my inventory (after death), none of my wands would have helped.

Praying also seemed infeasible, but I didn't have much other choice. Vagrak called me a nuisance and shook the ground, causing me to lose my balance, falling right into the jaws of the werewolf lord.

After looking through my inventory, I noticed that I had an amulet of life saving! Some potential mistakes I made were:
    - carrying too much weight
    - using a quarterstaff (16 DV on normal) instead of some other weapon and a shield (31 DV on normal)
    - not blessing that potion of healing right when I saw something that might give me some trouble

The rest of this post and the next post will be the partial contents of the FLG. I will attach the full FLG.

    YOUR HISTORY:
Your parents were poor people. They loved you and cared for you,
although you had to hunger more than once.
As a child you lived through happy days. Your parents tried to ease
your life as much as possible and gave you a lot of comfort.
In your youth you worked a lot to become rich and famous later.
Consequently you rarely had enough time to play with other kids of your
     age.
As a young adult you had to work a lot to finance your
apprenticeship. You were often tired and exhausted but all this was
forgotten, when you finally achieved your goal.
You decided to become a Bard.
