Okay, to preface this, I played this using (magic) dosbox on my phone and it likes to restart on me. So, I've saved it a lot partly because I was afraid of losing progress if I ever need to minimize it and also because I was playing when I had time (which often isn't around a computer). I had to upload my file from there to google docs to here and I faffed about before posting this, so really, this happened like a week ago.
Anyways,
I've been playing Adom on and off for awhile now starting around 2007. My previous bests were at the Ice Palace (Giant Greater Vault), Casino (money mishaps), and Cat Lord - the Cat Lord one might exist as a yasd, because it was ooold. I rolled a dark elf beastfighter and had some ridiculous starting stats, like, I didn't start this character with the idea that I'd win, I just wanted to try to pre-crown and maybe plan future runs a little better, and I got like 22 and 20 potentials for strength and toughness. I also thought Raven wouldn't be a good pick for beastfighter because of their massive speed bonuses, but the rune covered trident really came in clutch throughout, especially in dealing with molochs and ghosts. Speaking of, my (very first ever) pre-crown made a HUGE difference because I got the Bracers of Pure Might. I later crowned for Preserver and my D:49 was Wyrmlance. I also picked up a wand of wishing on D:50. I didn't do the unicorn quest, but I had enough potions and scrolls to cure my corruptions (of which I had few and they were all benign). I had a weird string of luck this run and I didn't want to push it with post-gate content. Here is hoping I'll be posting more YAVPs soon, though.
