Death Screen Prompt Feature
Maybe the ability to load an existing character

Okay, I was wondering about this;

When you die/quit with a character, you get directed to a very nice prompt that lets you see the character's final stats, equipment, etc. you all know what screen I'm reffering to. Nice pretty death screen with the song End of The Struggle playing. Among the options there is the option to make a new character, exit to the main menu, or quit. Now, if I had a save file I wanted to load up, I would have to (e)xit to the main menu, and then (r)estore an existing character. Could we add a feature for prerelease 22 to be able to (l)oad a character from the death screen? I know, (l) is to load up (l)ast messages. Maybe we could make that last (m)essages, seeing as the only other place for (m) would be memorial (f)ile.

So this is what I'm suggesting we see:


You quit/You have died; Do you want to

(m) Show the last messages before your quitting/death
(s) Show the game Summary
(h) Display the Highscore
(i) examine your inventory
(f) create a memorial file for your character



(r) restart with a new character
(l) load a new character
(e) exit to the main menu
(q) quit the game


Anyone else in?

Might I suggest that, rather than changing the "l" for "last messages" to "m", it be made more consistent with the opening menu by changing the "r" for "restart with a new character" to "restore an old game", and use "g" for "generate a new character"?

Can you also put a new line to he able to see the lvl you have died on fully mapped and all items and monsters showing? Dunno why, but i always wanted to have this, to be able to fantasize a bit and to analyze the situation.

I'm not sure if I'd like this feature or not. If you put it in it becomes acceptable to use (without counting as a spoiler), but for some levels that have specific geometries it might give away too much. At the very least, this seems like it's own RFE - as the existing RFE is about making it slightly easier to navigate the UI - whereas you're asking for new information - and I'd be curious what other people thought about it.

Well, this option is already in there:

[m] see the complete map of the current level

But it is only shown for very few levels (e.g. the infinite dungeon or the arena) so that the player doesn't get spoiled. Please open a new RFE if you think this option should be available for other levels.
