Make potion of literacy better for characters with literacy.
as above.

If you don't have literacy, the potion of literacy is pretty nice; it gives you the skill and bumps you to the 60s or so--not great, but good enough for most purposes. I recently got it on a character with 19 literacy and had my literacy bumped to 36. To say I felt cheated would be the understatement of the last two hours.

I think if you have literacy, the potion should probably bump it to 100, or at the very least, bump it to the 80s or 90s. It's not like this is overpowered or anything, and it should definitely be better than getting it on a character with no literacy.

P.S. changing how it works for characters with no literacy would be the wrong decision.

How about if the potion increased your Literacy to close the gap to 100 by, say, 50% (rounded down) plus 1d6+9 (that is, 10-15)?

So if you don't have literacy, you'll get literacy of 60-65.

If you have literacy of 50, then it'll increase it by 25, and then by 10-15, bringing it up to 85-90.

If you have literacy of 25, it'll increase it by 37 (half of 75), and then by 10-15, bringing it up to 72-77.

To have it immediately kick you up to 100, you'd need at least 70 to begin with (at which point there's a 1 in 6 chance of it going up to 100). It requires Literacy at 80 to guarantee a boost to 100.

So it would take more than two potions of literacy (in theory) to get a PC's literacy from zero to 100, but nobody gets ripped off by already having literacy.

wouldn't that make the Ghost Librarian literacy boost redundant though?

Voted yes. If you can go from 19 to 36 that defeats the point of why literate characters get the potion.

Just wanna note I really like Aielyn's solution - or similar - to this problem (though I'm not 100% sure if it is still applies since I haven't gotten the pot in a while) (still applies).

This always has bugged me. Pots of Lit are almost useless on a character that's already semi-literate.

Don't get me wrong, I love the fact that I CAN get a boost to my literacy, but it just feels so... pathetic. When it tells me I "feel a significant boost" to my Literacy, just to see it raised a measly dozen points? That isn't significant... that's a couple hundred turns of reading an indestructible scroll to train my Lit.
