New skill system is unintuitive
I did not understand the new skill system and thought I had no or few skills.

UPDATE 3 : Well I finally figured out this is intended behavior, should have read the patch notes more closely. This seems like a helpful change but it was greatly confusing for a short amount of time as you can tell by my previous statements, I suppose people will just have to get used to it. I also suspect that I will not be the last person to post this "bug" report.

I've made several characters with metallurgy and they either have only metallurgy or they have metallurgy and one other skill. Very strange bug, easily reproducible.

UPDATE : There are tons of characters that just don't have skills for whatever reason. Very strange. I even had a character with skills and then made the same type of character and it had no skills.

UPDATE 2 : Apparently just pressing "a" only shows one or two skills for whatever reason and pressing "shift+a" shows them all. I don't know if this is intended but it's un-intuitive. This also didn't happen with the first character I made so it's very strange overall.

Can confirm.

Actually pjsb1 prompted me to check my skills and I thought the same bug was present. We only discovered what was the case during discussion.
I'd say ii might be intuitive if you start ADOM with this release, but it's a huge change for long-time players. Easy to get confused without a warning.

I found that I can't use Pickpocket as a quick-skill.
I'm a fighter with Metallurgy and Pickpocket after talking with Yergios.

Maybe a temporary popup that on opening this screen which would tell players his is an intended feature and skills are still around?

My guess is that this really is just a problem for folks accustomed to the old behaviour. When you think about it it makes totally sense to be only offered the skills you could use right now ;-)

"a" is "apply skill" BTW.

I have added a quick hint on how to display all skills when you use 'a' and then abort (as that might indicate your confusion).

the "a" to apply skill appears to only show ones that apply to self, or the current square.
Would be good to have it for adjacent squares too.

Great, I was trying to figure out why Pick Pockets didn't show up.
