wishing for map fragments

Since I lost access to the last map fragment from a bug, in desperation I used a ring of djinni summoning.

It failed, as expected. But the dialog is a bit odd.

The djinni booms "Being a ring djinni I will grant you one wish for freeing me! Choose wisely, mortal."
What do you wish for? antediluvian dwarven map fragment
Nothing happens.
The djinni roars "declares"
Then he is gone.

So 1- there is a very minor bug in the dialog, easily corrected, and 2- does it make sense for the scroll fragments to be artifacts (maybe there are other means to protect them from destruction, or maybe they shouldn't be preserved from destruction since they're not intrinsically magical), and does it make sense for djinni to be able to find one of them for you?

Just a thought.

The weird djinni dialog appears to be a general problem with wishing for artifacts. Probably it should give the standard "That's a foolish wish. Try once more!" for this type of invalid wish.

This is very interesting. It seems that modern compiler optimizations handle the original ADOM code differently than in the days of yore. Thus the above (implemented) behavior did not work anymore. Tested and fixed.

Modern compiler optimizations, especially those dealing with cutting out code with no apparent side effects, can be brutal.
